I Deserve A Hundred Cups of Tea!

First off a big thank you to everyone who commented on the last journal, I'm feeling a lot better and much happier. Secondly, college has never been better, I've felt great about it, all my hand in's have been on time and I've not really been stressed out at all I'm coping so well because some of you may remember how much of a mess I got myself into with a few classes. But each unit has went very well, I love photojournalism and dare I say I really liked doing social photography.

Now on to the real stress news....I got bored one night and started using google image search on a few of my images and I discovered that they are everywhere! I can't get them all taken down for example people using my image in their youtube videos etc stuff that I wouldn't have minded if they had asked me first! Just get permission guys and if you can't find the original owner DON'T USE IT!

But it got worse. I take it all you know what Getty Images is, well one of their stock sites is ithinkstock and guess what, a thief took my Poison Apples photo, uploaded it and made money from it and I know this because my photo is along side online articles. Now this is the first time I've found someone who's properly stolen a photo from me. So I got the help from my lecturer who phoned up Getty and they gave me an email address to forward all the evidence showing that its mine.

Under a week later I heard nothing back so I called up again and I was put through to someone who told me that they couldn't help me because I wasn't a Getty Photographer so therefore they could not help me. Basically they said I could either ask the thief to take it down (there was no way I could contact the person in the first place), sue the person (they didn't speak english so that wouldn't really work) or do nothing about it. I got pissed. So on the sixth call to Getty I got another email address and sent a more strict e-mail.

About an hour later I got a phone call from Canada, all the other times I phoned it was from somewhere in the UK, and this woman was so so nice! She said that she was sorry for all the stress I was going through trying to sort this out and she didn't understand why I was told above. She said that it would take 24 hours for the thief's account to be deleted and this morning I checked and it was gone!

After all of that I deserved a lot of cosy cups of tea and a nice warm blanket around my shoulders. So from now on I will not allow people to download any of my pictures, I'm sorry but oh my God I don't want to have to go through this again for a long time, I mean people can right click the photo but HA enjoy the low resolution file!!!!!!

So that's my story, congrats if you managed to get through it all haha As for new uploads I'm trying my hardest not to be lazy, promise that when I finally get a good photo it'll be up straight away!
