A Photography Meme

Well, at the moment things at home aren't really perfect, just more and more drama lama's so I don't have anything to talk about but I was tagged in a little meme and I haven't done one in forever! I do normally try and post things to start conversations and stuff but I thought I needed some fun and do this

Before I start I have to tag someone else to do it and I pick...... But if you want to do this anyway go ahead and do it!


When did your interest in photography begin?

- It began when I first found deviantart. I was still at school and the site was a great way to find art that influenced projects etc. I got looking at the photos on here too and I remember going, "I want to do that!"

What was the FIRST camera you used to take your photos?

- Oh God I can't even remember. Hmm, well it wasn't a DSLR, it was just a small, silver camera that could fit in your pocket. It had character to it, I had to use a big plaster just to hold the batteries in it! Oh wait, it was a KODAK EASYSHARE C533 ZOOM DIGITAL CAMERA, just a few of the photos I took of it below. Rest in peace little silver camera.


What was your first DSLR and when did you get it?

-It was a Nikon D60 and I got it when I started doing NC Photography at college! It was pretty good to start with but at the time I was still learning how to work one so at the same time it was very frustrating.

What camera(s) do you own and use now? Any lenses?

-I have a Nikon D5100, which is damaged and still to be repaired, I love that camera. I also have a Nikon D5200, that my dad bought me this year because of reasons....as for lenses I use a standard lense Nikon 18 - 55 which I find great for self portraits and a sigma 17 - 300 which I find amazing for still life and it's really good for taking photos of other people, like fashion or out on location I love it! I also have a attachable fisheye lense thing and a polarising filter which is just fantastic! I also use a scanner and a polaroid camera which is very expensive to use!

Do you still have the first photo you took with your camera?

-Um, I don't think I have it on here any more but the ones below are the 'first' photos I ever took with silver, d60, d5100 and d5200:

What editing program did you use when you first started? 

-I remember using photoshop a lot in school but at home it was picassa, I think that's how you spell it. It was an all right editing system at the time but it was never going to 'improve' my skills at editing. 

And the one you use now?

-I now use Photoshop Elements 11 as that's what I could afford at the time and sometimes I use picmonkey. Picmonkey is a great site so much better than the ones in the past for example, the image you see below was edited all on there as I didn't have elements at the time!

How did you gain your skills and knowledge? School, self-taught, etc?

-I was taught at college. There was no photography class at my school but once I left they introduced it there -_- College taught me about ISO's, apertures etc and editing well I just sort of picked stuff up along the way.

Your favourite thing to capture? What do you like to focus your work on?

-God that's a toughie, um....I guess I like to capture the dark and light? God I dunno for sure =/ A few people tell me that they like my outlook on life and I can't tell them that I don't even know for myself yet! I think what I'll say for now is that I take photos to create a story, I want the viewer to create there own story when they look at my photo too.

Is photography a hobby for you, or something you'd like to/currently are pursuing as a career?

-Career! I don't have any skills or qualifications to be a lawyer or a nurse so the creative industries is defo where I'm wanting to go.

Your dream camera that you'd love to own?

-I dunno man, I don't know what's good and what's bad. But at the moment I'm happy with what I've got
